Andrew McClelland Obituary, Legendary Racer Has Passed Away

Andrew McClelland Obituary, Death – We are sad to inform the off-road community that Andrew McClelland, or Mac as he was affectionately known, passed away last night. The loss of this off-road racing legend cannot be overstated. In addition to being Poppy and the leader of the McClelland clan, Mac was a legend, a gentleman, a symbol, and a gem of the off-road world.

Mac entered the racing scene in the 1970s and has devoted his entire life to either competing or supporting the sport. He was given life membership in the Sea Lake Off Road Club and served on a number of committees and panels, including the Victorian Off Road Panel. All three of his boys followed in his footsteps and became accomplished drivers or navigators in the world of off-road racing. While Cameron McClelland is the most recent winner of the Sea Lake Mallee Rally, both Alistair and Stuart have impressive collections of trophies attesting to their years of racing and navigating, respectively.

Mac was always present whenever there was a race involving the lads. You can always spot Mac in the crowd by his bright yellow bucket hat, whether he’s dragging a buggy, leading the pit crew, watching the grandchildren, driving, navigating, or just having a yack. Our hearts go out to the families of Alistair and Alison, Stuart and Jodie, Cam and Tarsh.
