Arthur Connery Obituary, Arthur Connery Died At 84
Arthur Connery Obituary, Death- On September 4, 2023, at the age of 83, Arthur J. Connery left this world in the comfort of his own home, surrounded by the affection of his family. His passing was peaceful.
On October 14, 1939, Arthur was born to his parents, Arthur W. and Mary (Scesny) Connery, at their residence in Green Island. He attended St. Joseph’s Grammar School and Catholic Central High School, both of which he graduated from, and then went on to complete his education at Hudson Valley Community College after living on Green Island his entire life.
Between the years of 1956 and 1960, Arthur was a member of the United States Navy, attaining the rank of Electronics Technician Third Class (ETR-3) before receiving an honorable release. Before starting work at the Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory in Niskayuna, Arthur worked for the Behr Manning Company in the beginning of his career. After that, he served as a police officer for the Village of Green Island for a short period of time. After 38 years of service, he took early retirement from his position as an electrical supervisor.
After retiring, Arthur looked forward to spending more time with his family and friends. Always focused on his family, Arthur arranged and handled a number of family get-togethers over the years. He watched a lot of sports and his favorite team was the New York Mets. He was an avid golfer, loved betting on horses, and spent the winter months in Florida to escape the cold.
His memberships included the Knights of Columbus, the Green Island American Legion Post, the Watervliet-Colonie Lodge of Elks, Kiwanis, the Vagabond Club of Green Island, the Park Hotel Golf League, of which he was an original founder, the Sunday Nite Wonders Bowling League, where he served as president for 35 years at Green Island Lanes, and the Green Island Senior Citizens. He was also a member of the Green Island Senior Citizens.
He attended the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Watervliet, where he was an active communicant. He was the beloved husband of Ellen F. (Viladesau) Connery; the doting father of Danielle (Robert) Boudreau, Edie (Mark) Guilbault, and Arthur Joseph “AJ” (Tammy Reynolds) Connery; the cherished grandfather of Kaitlyn (Jamie) Cirilli, Rachael (Kyle) Smith, Todd (Ashley) Bayly and Thomas Boudreau; the proud great-grandfather of March
On the morning of Friday, September 8, 2023, at nine o’clock in the morning, the Reverend Donald Rutherford will preside over a funeral mass at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish Church, which is located at the intersection of 25th Street and 7th Avenue in Watervliet. The final rites, known as the Rite of Committal, will be performed at St. Michael’s Cemetery in Waterford after the interment. On Thursday, September 7, 2023, from 4 pm to 7 pm, friends are welcome to join the memorial service held at the Parker Bros. Memorial in Watervliet. During this time, friends may also visit with Arthur’s family.
