Barbara Poteet Obituary, Death – It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Barbara Jewell Poteet, a cherished member of the Glasgow community. Barbara, 81, passed away peacefully on September 2, 2023, at her residence. Barbara was born in Barren County to Island and Bessie Hagan Franklin. She dedicated her life to being a loving homemaker and was a proud member of the Grider Memorial Baptist Church.

Barbara is survived by her three children: Johnny Poteet, Karen Thompson (Emmett Barnett), and Christie Creek (Michael Jewell). Her legacy lives on through her 15 grandchildren: Mark Wilson, Timothy Wilson, Heather Wilson, Brandon Wilson, Danielle Hardin, Stephanie Scbrosky, Ashley Poteet, Amber Poteet, Ellis Poteet, J.C. Poteet, Chasity Wallace, Joshua Thompson, Trever Thompson, Stephen Mosby, and Leandrea French. She was also blessed with one great-grandchild, Tyler Wilson. Barbara is survived by her sister, Katherine Morgan, and several nieces and nephews.

Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Clinton Poteet, Jr., and two children: Rita Wilson and Mike Poteet. She also mourned the loss of two grandchildren: Michael David Poteet and Trenton Wilson. Barbara joins her parents, four sisters, and four brothers in eternal rest.

A funeral service to honor Barbara’s life will be held on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest at the Hiseville Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home starting at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday.

Barbara Jewell Poteet’s memory will forever remain in our hearts. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, and her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her. May she rest in peace.
