Betty Dunmire Obituary, Resident Of Vandergrift, Died At 83

Betty Dunmire Obituary, Death – Betty Rose (Palattella) Dunmire, age 83, passed away on Monday, August 28, 2023 in Butler Memorial Hospital in Butler, Pennsylvania. She was a resident of Vandergrift.

She was the daughter of Salvatore Palattella and Mary (Cristello) Palattella, both of whom passed away before her birth on October 14, 1939 in Natrona Heights. Betty graduated from Vandergrift High School in 1958 and later found employment as a part-time employee at Dobi Catering. She attended the Roman Catholic Church of St. Gertrude as a regular attendee.

Betty loved going shopping, making crafts, and collecting trinkets of all kinds. It was always fun for her to participate in Community Day activities held all across the neighborhood. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, as well as by her husband, James “Jim” Dunmire, who passed away on April 4, 2001, and by her brother, Vito Palattella. James “Jim” Dunmire passed away on April 4, 2001.

Betty is survived by her children, James L. Dunmire of Gilpin Township, Michele L. (Greg) Horrell of Kiski Township, and Steven L. Dunmire of Vandergrift; grandchildren, Sarah Dunmire, James Dunmire, Gabriella Dunmire, Stephanie Horrell, and Aaron Horrell; great-grandchildren, Leann Scanga and Morgan Campbell; sister, Martha Caratelli of Vandergrift; and a number of nieces and nephews.

On Thursday, August 31, 2023, friends and family can pay their respects at the Brady-Curran Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., located at 429 Franklin Avenue, Vandergrift, during the hours of 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. respectively. Prayers of farewell will be held in the funeral home on Friday, September 1, 2023 at 9:30 a.m.,

and will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in the St. Gertrude Roman Catholic Church located at 303 Franklin Ave., Vandergrift. The priest for the Mass of Christian Burial will be Father John Euker. St. Gertrude Cemetery in Vandergrift was chosen as the location for the interment. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made in Betty’s memory to the St. Gertrude Roman Catholic Church, which can be found at 303 Franklin Avenue in Vandergrift, Pennsylvania 15690.
