Brian Coghlan Obituary, Lifetime Member Of Box Hill Hawks Dies

Brian Coghlan Obituary, Death – In light of the tragic news that Brian Coghlan has died away, the members and friends of the Box Hill Hawks would like to extend their deepest sympathies to his family and friends at this time. “Cogs” is the first person in the history of the Box Hill Football Club to have simultaneously held the positions of senior coach, player, and president of the club all at the same time.

In honor of all he has accomplished for the organization, the Hall of Fame and the Life Member program are both named after him. He was the one who came up with the concept of nicknaming our squad the “Mustangs” in 1968, and he instructed his players to “play like wild horses – like fiery mustangs.” As a direct result of his consistent effort behind the scenes, the club was able to continue operations in 1973 all the way through 1974 and even farther into the following years. In subsequent years, the ongoing survival of the club was also in part owing to the efforts that he had put out.

The Box Hill Football Club would like to extend its condolences to Brian’s friends and family on the occasion of their loss. This is due to the fact that Brian was such a loyal clubman for such a significant amount of time.
