Denzil Fincham Obituary, Kingswood College Mourn Passing Of Former Junior School Head Master

Denzil Fincham Obituary, Death – Denzil Fincham, a “True Kingswood Legend” and the former headmaster of the Junior School at Kingswood College, passed away Friday at the age of 79. Our hearts break for Chick, their children Jonty, Cathy, and Bruce, and all of their loved ones. From 1999 to 2004, Denzil Fincham presided over the Junior School after serving as its Deputy for a considerable amount of time.

Denzil was characterized as “an exceptional Deputy who was loyal and responsible, with a wonderful sense of humor that found him adored by pupils and loved by staff” by his friend and former colleague, former Junior School Headmaster Midge Hilton-Green. There was a “Cafe Cabaret” at school where the two of you performed together. Denzil’s former teacher at Kingswood, Debbie Kent, once called him the “Star of the Show with his huge personality.” They were “amazing friends and colleagues,” she said of Denzil.

Student Nicole Sullivan remembers Denzil fondly as a “Kind, gentle, fun-loving Headmaster who made sure we were always having fun and felt important” during his time at Kingswood Junior. While making sure we were well-behaved representatives of Kingswood, he made us feel like we belonged there. OK Mike Bandey, a lifelong friend, reflected on the bond they shared over the past 67 years, recalling the pleasant times the two had spent boarding together. “Zillo was noted for his humanity and endless kindness to everybody he came into contact with,” Bandey said. The void he creates in our lives will never be filled.
