Evelyn Bichler Obituary, Death –Evelyn Bichler, a cherished resident of Port Washington and former resident of Belgium, embarked on her journey to Heaven to join her beloved angels on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, peacefully at her residence, having celebrated 84 years of life. Evelyn was born on Christmas Eve in 1938, in the comfort of her family home in Fredonia, as the daughter of Joseph, Sr. and Elizabeth (nee Pierre) Klein.
She spent her formative years in Fredonia and graduated with the Class of 1956 from Port Washington High School. On July 11, 1959, she exchanged vows with John Bichler at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Fredonia. Together, they took over the family farm in 1965, where they lovingly raised their family. In 1968, they expanded by purchasing an adjacent farm. John and Evelyn tirelessly managed the dairy farm until 1989 when they handed it over to their son Gary.
Evelyn was deeply engaged in her community, as evidenced by her long-standing membership in the Christian Mother’s Society at St. Nicholas Parish and her active involvement in the American Legion Auxiliary in Belgium. Her heart swelled with pride while watching her grandchildren’s sporting events, particularly softball games. Besides her love for family and sports, she and John embarked on adventurous travels across the United States in their RV.
Her passions included sewing, knitting, crocheting, Diamond Dotz, and various crafting endeavors. She was renowned for her cake decorating skills, crafting countless special cakes for birthdays, weddings, and anniversaries. Furthermore, she found enjoyment in playing BINGO, Rummikub, solving puzzles, and engaging in heated games of Wahoo! with her rival, Black Bart.
Evelyn is survived by her devoted children: Gary (Claire) Bichler of Belgium, Debra (Tim) Miller of Belgium, Patti Bichler of Waukesha, and Paul Bichler of Chandler, AZ. Her love extended to her four cherished grandchildren: Heather (Luke) Meinen, Emily (Kenny) Dornburg, Shawn Miller, and Ali (Tony Maher) Bichler, and she reveled in her role as great-grandmother to six precious great-grandchildren: Myla, Orion, Penny, Skye, Jules, and Brooks.
