Helen Compeau Obituary, Helen Compeau Dies at 82

Helen Compeau Obituary, Death – Helen Jeanette, age 82, of Fenton, passed away on the 28th of August, 2023. On Thursday, August 31, 2023, at 11 AM, funeral services will be performed at the Sharp Funeral Homes located at 1000 Silver Lake Road in the city of Fenton. The ceremony will be presided over by Pastor Chris Vitarelli. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Donations in honor of Helen can be sent to the Hospice House of Shiawassee County, which is located at 2005 E. Copas Road, Owosso, Michigan 48867. These can be sent in lieu of flowers.

Helen was the daughter of Roy and Helen (Jarvis) Thornton and was born on February 2, 1941 in Fenton. Her mother’s maiden name was Jarvis. At St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Fenton, Michigan, on February 17, 1962, she wed Robert James Compeau. Helen spent more than 30 years working as a foster mother for Catholic Social Services, during which time she took in more than 135 children. She was a participant in the TOPS, the Sons and Daughters of Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Red Hat Society. Jigsaw puzzles and crocheting were two of Helen’s favorite hobbies.

She is survived by her children, Anthony (Shannon) Compeau and Annette (Andrew) Spiece; her son-in-law, Paul Pappas; nine grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; her sister, Vera Thornton; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband.

Her parents, her husband, Robert James Compeau, who passed away on March 15, 2010, their son, David Compeau, and their daughter, Tammy Pappas, as well as her siblings, Mary Sue Hajec, Marge Shann, Chuck Thornton, Clyde Thornton, Dave Thornton, and Violet Baird, all died before she did.
