Jerry Gates Obituary, Death – Jerry spent his entire childhood in the city of Pensacola, Florida, where he was born. Before embarking on a career in carpentry and building, he received his education at Pine Forest High School and then at Pensacola Junior College, all of which are located in Florida. Before making the move to his family’s farm in McLellan, Florida, which took place the previous year, he had been a resident of Missouri for more than fifteen years.
He was overjoyed to get back to the farm, where he could once again assist in taking care of the animals and spend meaningful time with the people he cared about. Jerry accepted Christ as his personal savior when he was young and loved the Lord Jesus with all of his heart. Whenever the opportunity arose, he would talk about the Bible and share his experience with those around him. He never lost his composure or became agitated and was never in a rush. Jerry and his friends and family had a lot of fun watching Alabama play football. Jerry’s favorite holiday was Christmas, and he always made sure to give presents to those he cared about.
In his spare time, he enjoyed going fishing, hunting, and hanging out with his family at the hunting or fishing camp they had. Everyone who knew Jerry considered him a friend and a source of joy. His father, Thurman Jay “Buddy” Gates, had passed away before him when he was still a young boy. His mother, Marjorie “Phyllis” Jennings Gates of McLellan, Florida, his son, Jerimiah Gates of Pensacola, Florida, his granddaughters Laney Gates and Bellamy Gates, his sister, Kristine J. “Kristy” Gates Wilson and her husband Patrick of Silverhill, Alabama, his brother, John Jason Gates of Munson, Florida, his nieces Jessica Wilson, Holly Wilson, Jaylnn Gates, Aly
On Wednesday, August 30, 2023, a Funeral funeral will be conducted at the Lewis Funeral Home Milton Chapel located at 6405 Highway 90 W in Milton, Florida 32570. Visitation will take place from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, and the funeral will begin at 12:00 PM. In the immediate aftermath, funeral rites will be carried out at McLellan Cemetery.
