Lorraine Hoyt Obituary, Death –Lorraine Kay Hoyt, aged 60, a resident of Shepherd, passed away on September 4, 2023, at My Michigan Medical Center Midland, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 22, 1962, to proud parents Levi and Dorothy (Jewel) Halliwill Sr. Lorraine’s life was filled with joyous activities and shared moments with loved ones. She had a deep passion for salmon fishing, camping, cooking, gardening, and attending thrilling NASCAR events.

Lorraine also had a special fondness for her daily dose of coffee, the soothing sounds of music, and the enchanting presence of hummingbirds in her life. However, her greatest joy came from spending quality time with her cherished grandchildren. Whether fishing or camping, Lorraine had a unique way of making these experiences truly special, creating lasting memories with her loved ones.

On September 27, 1980, Lorraine married her soulmate, Troy Hoyt, and together they shared a life filled with love and shared adventures. Lorraine is survived by her loving husband, Troy, and their children, Zachary (Sarah Jennings) Hoyt of Shepherd and Stephanie (Gage) Fila of Alma. She leaves behind six adoring grandchildren: Alysia, Braxton, Paige, Aiden, Evalynn, and Tristan. Lorraine’s mother, Dorothy Long of St. Louis, and her siblings, Levi (Deb) Halliwill Jr., Marla Blumberg, Billie (Michael) San Miguel, Glenna Halliwill, Della (Matthew) Brandel, Christina (Eugene) Sharp, and Estella Halliwill, also cherish her memory. Numerous nieces and nephews will remember her with love and affection.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her father, Levi, and her brother, James Halliwill Sr. She is also reunited in the afterlife with her step-father, Loyd Long, father-in-law Donald Hoyt, nieces Katie San Miguel and Alanna Brandel, and great-niece Kira Nichols. A memorial service to celebrate Lorraine’s life will be held on Saturday, September 9, at 11 A.M. at Berry Funeral Home in Shepherd. Visitation hours for those wishing to pay their respects will be on Friday, September 8, from 2 to 4 P.M. and 6 to 8 P.M.
