Mike led a diverse and industrious life. He worked as a truck driver, a skilled mechanic, and a dedicated farmer who took pleasure in tending to his cows. His involvement in the Masons was notable, serving as the Master of Centreville Lodge #371. He accomplished his high school education at Gallia Academy High School in 1974. Mike was united in marriage with Patricia Lockhart Sanders, who preceded him in death in 2000. Among those who continue to cherish his memory are his two daughters, Tiffany (Cliff) Riehm of Vinton and Danielle Sanders of Gallipolis, as well as two stepdaughters, Christy Clagg of Gallipolis and Barbie (Brad) Thomas of Vinton.
His legacy also includes grandchildren: Brody Thomas, Allie Clagg, Bailey Cline, and Campbell, Wriggley, and Cannon Riehm; great-grandchildren Tatum and Kix. His mother, Luella Sanders, and sister, Vera (John) Clark of Crown City, remain an important part of his family. Moreover, he is survived by his niece, Kari (Chad) Mayes, nephew Jeremy Clark, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family members. The funeral service to honor Mike’s life is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at Willis Funeral Home, with Pastor Harold Benson officiating.
His final resting place will be at Ohio Valley Memory Gardens. A time for friends to pay their respects has been set for Tuesday, August 29, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. At 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, a Masonic Service will be conducted at the funeral home.
