Michael Wilson Obituary, Motorcyclist Killed In Hilo Crash Has Been Identified
Michael Wilson Obituary, Death –The motorcyclist involved in a tragic traffic collision in Hilo during the early hours of September 2 has been identified as 45-year-old Michael Wilson from Mountain View, according to Hawai‘i Island police. The incident occurred when Hilo patrol officers responded to a single-vehicle traffic collision on Kilauea Avenue at 12:36 a.m. on that fateful Saturday.
Upon arrival at the scene, it was determined that a 1990 Yamaha motorcycle, driven by Wilson, had been traveling southbound on Kilauea Avenue, just before the Puainako intersection. Tragically, the motorcycle crossed the center line and collided head-on with a utility pole. First responders found the motorcyclist, Wilson, unresponsive at the collision site. He was immediately transported to Hilo Medical Center by ambulance, where, despite their best efforts, he was later pronounced dead at 1:40 a.m.
In order to ascertain the exact cause of death, an autopsy has been scheduled. Preliminary investigations suggest that speed and inattention played pivotal roles in the tragic crash. The East Hawaii Traffic Enforcement Unit continues to investigate this traffic collision, categorizing it as a coroner’s inquest.
