Miss Benny, the heroine of ‘Glamorous’ on Netflix, comes out as a transgender woman.

Miss Benny, who co-stars with Kim Cattrall in the Netflix makeup-world farce “Glamorous,” has come out as a transgender woman. Monday, the actress and erstwhile YouTube star shared her transition journey in an essay for Time magazine. Miss Benny also revealed her identity to her Instagram followers, where she wrote that she uses the pronouns she/her.

“Thank you @time for letting me write about my transition for the first time,” wrote the actress. “I am overcome with hard-earned happiness. Joyful pride, she added. The 24-year-old actress is well-known for her roles in “American Horror Story” and “Fuller House.” Miss Benny, like her “Glamorous” character, had a YouTube channel, which she created when she was 11 years old.

In her Time essay, Miss Benny discussed the effects of transitioning on her life and the obstacles that prevented her from living authentically. She said, “I’m one of those girls who grew up in a religious household in Texas where being gay was totally not the vibe.” “However, by the time I was eight years old, I prayed every night to rise up and somehow be like my sisters.

I would wake up in the same body every morning and weep. The actress wrote, “I moved to Los Angeles when I was 14 to escape Texas, establish my own identity, and hopefully pursue a career as an actor.” “Instead, I endured years of audition rejections because ‘it wasn’t the right time for someone like me.'”

Then, at age 19, Miss Benny received a phone call regarding a role in “Glamorous.” At her first audition for the program, she stated, “I arrived as a slimmer version of myself in order to avoid the usual rejection I’d encountered. This time, however, I was encouraged to be myself and to express my full femininity.

It was the first time in my life that someone looked at me and said, “Yes, your time has come.” Eventually, the actress initiated the transition procedure. She said, “It felt as if I had a stuffy nose my entire life, and then all of a sudden, my breathing airways opened, and I realized that everyone else had been breathing freely the entire time.”

Miss Benny continued, “If someone like me is experiencing the burden of being othered, I want them to have a place where they can observe someone like us thriving and being celebrated.” “Glamourous” is currently available on Netflix. In the show, the actress portrays an aspiring YouTube beauty guru who lands a dream position working for makeup mogul Madolyn Addison (Kim Cattrall) and learns to navigate love, career goals, and gender identity.
