Before he was even conceived, both of his parents, Holland and Beverly Coakley, as well as his sister-in-law, Teresa Coakley, had already passed away. Before he was even born, all three of his family members were already deceased. The only member of his immediate family to have survived, he was the sole survivor of his family.

His children Mara Coakley (Travis Etherton) and Mace Coakley (Kelly), as well as his grandchildren Myla Coakley, Micah Coakley, Bennett Jones, and Wyatt Jones, as well as his brother Marty Coakley, his nephew Kyle Coakley (Tabitha), and his niece Kayla Hickson (Jacob), are among those who continue to carry on his legacy.
