Todd Strader Obituary, Death – Thomas Burton Strader, 83, a Roachdale resident, died on September 10, 2021, surrounded by his family. Tom Strader was born on October 2, 1937, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to the late William Burton Strader and Bertha Jewell (Kelly) Strader. Both of his parents have since died. On April 7, 1956, he married Joyce (Stevens), who is still alive today. Tom was a proud veteran of the United States Army who graduated with honors from George Washington High School.

Tom worked as a State Trooper for the people of Indiana from the time he joined the Indiana State Police on August 1, 1957, until he retired on October 31, 1992. On August 1, he began his service. Tom was never one to sit still, so he worked as a driver for Thrifty Car Rental throughout his retirement. Tom has long been a member of the Greensburg Masonic Lodge #36, the Indiana State Police Alliance, and Harvest Fellowship.

He enjoyed taking care of his yard, cheering for the Indianapolis Colts and Indiana Pacers, and playing practical jokes on his family. He was famed for keeping them guessing. Everyone who knew Tom will remember him for his kindness and compassion. He was predeceased by a daughter, Julie Baer, a brother, William Strader, and a sister, Alta Mae Mahaney. They had all died, in addition to his parents.

Joyce (Stevens) Strader, his wife of 65 years, his sons Tom, Todd, and Troy Strader and their wives, his daughter-in-law Joe Baer, his sisters Mary Lou Pearson and Kate Day, ten grandchildren, and six great grandchildren are among his surviving. The family would like to thank the Roachdale Volunteer Fire Department, the Roachdale Police Department, and PMH Squad 1 for their assistance.

Visitation will be held at Harvest Fellowship, 1618 W. 500 S. in Crawfordsville, on September 25, 2021, from 2 to 4 p.m., followed by a Celebration of Life at 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Julie Baer Memorial Scholarship at the South Madison Community Foundation, 233 S. Main St., Pendleton, Indiana 46064. Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory is assisting the family at this time.
