Wayne Blanchette Obituary, Death – The identity of a man who was struck and killed by a train on Friday evening while attempting to cross the tracks in order to attend the football game at Antioch High School was made public by the coroner. The man was 92 years old. According to the findings of an autopsy done on Tuesday, Lake County Coroner Jennifer Banek determined that Wayne Blanchette, 92, of Antioch, California, passed away as a consequence of blunt force injuries.
The Antioch Fire Protection District and the Antioch Police Department were dispatched to the area of Route 173 east of Route 83 at around 7:10 p.m. on Friday in response to a complaint of a crash involving a train that resulted in casualties. When the police arrived, they discovered a male pedestrian at the Canadian Pacific railroad crossing who had been struck by a train. The victim’s name was eventually determined to be Blanchette.
Jim Moran, the manager of the communication department for the Village of Antioch, stated that Blanchette was pronounced deceased at the site. Moran stated that Blanchette was attempting to enter the football stadium when he was struck by the train. Blanchette was crossing the tracks on the pedestrian crossing at the time.
