William Bosch Obituary, Le Moyne College Professor Has Died
William Bosch Obituary, Death – It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Reverend William J. Bosch, S.J., a beloved member of our community who departed from this world unexpectedly last night at the age of 94, just a month shy of his 95th birthday. Father Bosch’s life was one marked by unwavering dedication and service. He was ordained as a Jesuit priest in 1960 and, in 1966, became an integral part of the Le Moyne College family. Over the years, he held several significant roles within the college, making a lasting impact on countless lives.
As a professor of history, Father Bosch shared his vast knowledge and inspired generations of students with his passion for the subject. His commitment to education and intellectual growth was unparalleled, leaving an indelible mark on the academic community. For an astounding 30 years, Father Bosch served as the devoted moderator of the International House (IH), a testament to his commitment to fostering cross-cultural understanding and global unity. Under his guidance, IH flourished, becoming internationally recognized for its mission.
In recognition of Father Bosch’s exceptional work in nurturing IH into what it is today, Le Moyne College established an enduring legacy in his honor—the William J. Bosch, S.J. Scholarship. This scholarship continues to support students who share Father Bosch’s passion for international understanding and goodwill. In 2016, the William J. Bosch, S.J. Lifetime Achievement Award was introduced to celebrate the outstanding contributions made by individuals throughout their tenure at Le Moyne College. It was only fitting that Father Bosch was the inaugural recipient of this prestigious award, a testament to his remarkable career and lasting influence.
As we mourn the loss of Father Bosch, we invite you to join us in keeping him, his fellow Jesuits, and all his cherished family and friends in your thoughts and prayers. His absence leaves a void that will be felt deeply by the Le Moyne College community and beyond, but his memory will continue to inspire and guide us in the pursuit of knowledge, unity, and service.
