Zach Villarreal Obituary, Death –The community of St. Johns, MI, is in mourning as it bids farewell to one of its beloved residents, Cosme Villarreal. He peacefully passed away on Monday, March 6, 2023, at the age of 88, while under the care of Sparrow Clinton Hospital. A memorial service to celebrate and honor his life is scheduled for Friday, March 10, 2023, at 2:00 P.M. This service will take place at the Smith Family Funeral Homes – Osgood Chapel, with Reverend Fr. Michael Williams officiating. Cosme will be laid to rest at Mt. Rest Cemetery in St. Johns, MI, at a later date. Prior to the service, there will be an opportunity for visitation from 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Cosme Villarreal’s life commenced in New Braunfels, Texas, on August 29, 1934, as the son of Jose and Concepcion (Villarreal) Villarreal. Throughout his life, Cosme faced numerous challenges, yet his spirit remained resilient and unbroken. He received his education at Rosebush Schools in Rosebush, MI.
In a poignant twist of fate, Cosme’s life took a heartrending turn on January 30, 1954, when he exchanged vows with the love of his life, Maria Elena Medina, in St. Johns, MI. Tragically, on the very same day, Maria Elena also passed away, marking a sorrowful chapter in Cosme’s life. This heart-wrenching event served as a testament to his enduring strength and resilience as he carried the memory of their love with him throughout his life.
