Zijie Yan Obituary, Associate professor shot and killed by a graduate student Tailei Qi at UNC Chapel Hill

Zijie Yan Obituary, Death – According to sources that FOX3 News spoke with, one of the victims who lost their life in the shooting incident was an associate professor by the name of Zijie Yan. He was reportedly one of the victims who lost their lives.

The arrest was made of Tailei Qi, who was a student at the University of North Carolina and was working toward earning her doctorate. The UNC Police Department received reports of a shooting taking place within the Caudill Laboratories that are located on our campus earlier today approximately 1:02 p.m.

Law enforcement was able to conduct a successful arrest at approximately 2:30 in the afternoon, and the suspect is currently being held in a detention center at this time. Qi started to gather in the Williams Circle area around 2:40 in the afternoon.

Williams Circle is situated approximately three kilometers to the north of the school. After being surrounded by law enforcement authorities, he was observed sitting on the side of the road in front of a driveway while he was being detained. This occurred after he had been encircled by the officers. This took place after he was arrested and held in detention. After that, the law enforcement officers supported him in being led to a patrol car that was waiting for him and escorted him there.
